Mentawai Scholarship Program
Although college tuition is free to Mentawaiians, they sill need to have enough money for room and board as they study away from home. That is enough of a barrier for many to be denied the opportunity to get a college education. That is where the Kandui Care Foundation steps in. Providing they keep their grades up, we give financially challenged Mentawaiians money monthly to help them just survive as they seek an education. It's so little money by Western standards, but it's enough to keep kids in school. We have 100+ kids in our program and we would like to help them more than we do, but honestly the funds are just not there. A little goes a long way so please consider giving.
This program is to help kids in the local villages get school supplies. Most people in the villages are very poor, just the amount of money it takes for simple things like writing books and pencils would no doubt be used for food and clothes, so the kids are left lacking just basic things. We try to help and we would love to help more but, again, the funds are not there. Just a little goes a long way so please consider helping out.
