Mentawai Medical Assistance Program
Due to its remote location, obtaining medical treatment and supplies is a challenge to say the least. Most of the day to day medical treatment the first world takes for granted is a challenge and the Kandui Foundation has taken steps to minimize this moving forward. The goal of the Medical Financial Assistance program is any Mentawai person seeking treatment can seek treatment at no cost. Each year, countless Mentawai people get very sick or die due to not seeking treatment due to the financial constraints from Medical Treatment. To ensure their motivation is to always seek treatment when feeling sick, The Kandui Foundation currently places its efforts within 2 directives.
2023 Mentawai Medical Assistance Programs
The goal of Medical Financial Assistance is that any Mentawai person seeking medical treatment receives assistance from the Kandui Foundation for anything that person can not afford. The Kandui Foundation has partnered with Public Health Center-Siberut, Public Health Center-Pei Pei Village, Public Health Clinic-Malilimok Village and Public Health Clinic Toro Laggok Village for financial assistance. The Kandui Foundation provides financial assistance to Mentawaiians seeking treatment at these facilities that can not afford these services on their own. This assistance also applies to transport, missed wages and any misc expense incurred for the treatment. The goal of the Medical Assistance is to motivate any Mentawai person that is feeling sick to seek treatment without the fear of financial repercussions.
The goal of the Medical Supplies Program is to ensure that each medical facility has all the medical supplies it needs. The Kandui Foundation has partnered with Public Health Center-Siberut, Public Health Center-Pei Pei Village, Public Health Clinic-Malilimok Village and Public Health Clinic Toro Laggok Village and donates any medical supplies that the facility needs.
